Vina Bosconia
Viña Bosconia is a red wine produced by the Viña Tondonia winery in the D.O. La Rioja. The winery is situated in Haro (Rioja Alta), one of the most prestigious and privileged areas for the cultivation of vines in Spain. Viña Tondonia is a historic winery, the first in Haro and the third in la Rioja. The quality of their wines is a true testament to their 137 history.
The wine is a blend of four different grape varieties, Tempranillo, Garnacho, Mazuelo and Graciano. The grapes used to produce this wine come from the Finca El Bosque. The estate is around 40 years old and is situated on the banks of the river Ebro, 1 km from the winery, home to calcareous-clay soils. The vineyards are planted on southward facing slopes, exposed to long hours of sunshine which is ideal for the correct ripening of the grapes. The harvest is carried out manually, with the grapes taken to the winery in traditional 100kg poplar wooden boxes.
Fermentation is carried out with the skins in large oak vats, using native yeasts from the winery itself. Viña Bosconia is aged for 5 years in American oak barrels which are constructed by the wineries own cooper. 2 rackings are carried out annually during this time.
Before being bottled, Viña Bosconia is clarified using fresh eggs from local farms.
This is a classic Riojan wine. Elegant, with good body, layer and structur
