The Mad Marquess Blended Irish Whiskey
A blend of 95% grain and 5% single malt Irish whiskies.
Born in Waterford in 1811, this whiskey pays homage to Henry de la Poer Beresford, 3rd Marquess of Waterford.
One night in 1837, he and his friends were returning to Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, England after a merry day of racing at Croxton Park. While paying the toll keeper the mischievous Marquess spotted some red paint. He thought it amusing to daube his friends and the toll keeper red with paint. One thing led to another and the Marquess and his gang continued into the town lashing paint onto the houses and passers-by, literally "painting the town red".
This night of debauchery led to the phrase "Paint the town red" to be forever associated with having an outrageously good time.
His spirit lives on...
This blended Irish whiskey is the perfect ingredient for a night of revelry. Raise a toast to the Mad Marquess.
